Students in English 8 will be exposed to a variety of authors and literature selections covering fiction and fable to drama and historical speech. Nonfiction will be included as well as poetry. Reading selections consist of short stories and a couple of novels. Some notable authors include Mark Twain, Jack London, Mary Shelly, Louisa May Alcott, Longfellow, and Steinbeck, to name a few. Writing will be an important component to English 8. Students will be writing research papers, compositions, and poetry. Along with vocabulary and spelling, grammar and mechanics will be reviewed as needed.
The goal of this "course" is to provide a place for you to find ways to leverage your iPad in your classroom. We will have how to information along with an area for you to disucss how you are using yoru iPad to drive instruction in your content area.
In U.S. History 8 we will be covering the development of the United States of America. We will begin with a brief United States Geography Unit. Then we will explore several theories that explain the origins of the first people on the American Continent and the civilizations that developed. We will continue through the establishment of colonies, the American Revolution, Westward Expansion, and the events leading to the Civil War and Reconstruction.
